What we'll do
Every day is a new day at SAPA with countless activities to get involved with! Across our indoor and outdoor spaces, children can choose what they want to do. We have such an exciting mix of activities ranging from t-shirt printing to roller-skating, football, and Minecraft. There is something for everyone to have fun with. Excitingly, we also have a bouncy castle that (weather providing) will bring hours of good fun! To celebrate Easter, we will offer a range of exciting and engaging themed activities such as a bonnet competition, card making, and mini basket making. But the main event will be our exciting Easter Egg Hunt! Fruit, snacks, and drinks will be on offer to all throughout the day, with a main nutritious meal shared in an inclusive and relaxed space. Not only is it important that children are nourished, but at SAPA we recognise the importance of demonstrating health eating and a balanced lifestyle through sharing healthy food and knowledge on nutrition.

About your mentor
St Andrews Play Association
SAPA - A place for children to play, grow, and thrive!
St Andrews Play Association (S.A.P.A) has been running open access play sessions for over four decades, offering exciting, and inclusive play provision to children from year 1 to aged 13. Based in the heart of the St Andrews area, SAPA is an integral community hub enriching the lives of children through imaginative, creative, and physical play. Our experienced staff team are dedicated to ensuring that every child has the opportunity to learn valuable life skills in a free, open, and caring environment. Through arts & crafts, sport, games, and cooking, we believe in the importance of freedom with children encouraged to choose how they want to play and learn. Our playground is a place for everyone to belong and we have fairness, equality, and cooperation at the heart of everything we do with activities made accessible for all.
Premises and facilities
We are based in Thirlmere Gardens and have fantastic spaces for adventure play. Our smaller park is a space for younger children to play on the swings, climbing frame, and roundabout. For older children there is an exciting adventure play area to explore with a tyre swing, larger climbing frame, and roundabout where imagination and creative play flourishes. Our larger green space surrounding the building is a fantastic space for children to play freely and climb trees, and even learn how to ride bicycles and scooters that we provide. In addition, we have an enclosed ballcourt where children can learn new games and skills safely under the guidance of staff and volunteers. Inside the Playbuilding, we have an Arts and Crafts Room where we make anything and everything. Our Games Room offers children to learn new skills through the use of a pool table, tennis table, and a PlayStation 4. Our activities are on two floors, with an upstairs soft play area for Primary-school-aged children and an additional computer room, both open in adverse weather.
Learning aims
Aim 1
To respectfully and fairly play with others.
Aim 2
To cooperate through play.
Suitable for
Our space is suitable for children who love to play and get stuck in! We are an Open Access Facility where children can come and go as they please. As Thirlmere Gardens is a public space, we strongly advise that if you are new to us you come and ensure the setting is suitable for your child's needs.
