A summary
These are 2-day 'First Tracks' courses which provide young people with their first experience of snow sports and plants the seed about life-skills and wellbeing, all at Tamworth Snowdome. This huge indoor snow slope is a fantastic place to get the feel of what skiing and snowboarding is all about and on arrival everyone is keen to get on the snow! Snowdome instructors – qualified instructors employed by the Snowdome will be leading the ski & snowboard lessons. Guardian Ballers staff team will support young people while on-site. Join us for an amazing two-day experience! **Participants are booking for both days either: Group 1 on 24th and 25th July Group 2 on 28th and 29th July Each Day of the Two-Day Course: 8.30am: Meet minibus at Sidney Stringer Academy 9.45am – 10.45am Arrival at Snowdome, Introduction and welcome 10.45am - Get kitted up for slope 11am – 12noon - Ski/snowboard lesson 1 12.15pm – 1pm - Wellbeing session 1pm – 1.45pm - Lunch 1.45pm - Get kitted up for slope 2pm – 3pm - Ski/snowboard lesson 2 3.15pm – 3.45pm - Focus on the Future life-skills session 4pm - Celebration and awards 4.30pm - Departure 5.15pm: Expected arrival at Sidney Stringer Academy Lunch Hot lunch will be provided with meat or vegetarian option. What to wear and equipment The temperature is between 0 - 4°C on the slope! You must wear gloves and a waterproof jacket on the slopes. We also recommend long, comfy socks if you have them. We will be lending you a pair of waterproof trousers so wear something comfy and long for underneath them (e.g. leggings or joggers). If you don’t have a waterproof coat or any gloves, you can borrow from us but please bring your own if you have them. Changing rooms and lockers (20p; non-refundable) can be found in the ski rental area or you can leave things in the Snow Camp room. Please bring a water bottle which we can refill on site.

We empower young people through engagement in Basketball [BALL] activities, education around mental-and-emotional wellbeing and identity [BE] and facilitation of practical experiences to serve local communities and charitable organisations [BETTER]. We work with young people from areas of socio-economic disadvantage, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnicities backgrounds and a minimum of half of our participants are Female. We target such populations (not excluding others) to tackle disparities in mental health, physical activity and societal-leadership statistics.
