A summary
A Green Light Trust Woodland Adventure Day offers a nature-based experience for children, designed to foster learning, play, and positive social engagement. Through a carefully planned day of outdoor activities, children will benefit from the restorative power of nature, learn new skills such as wood crafting, and connect with peers and their natural surroundings. Children start their day with a hearty, welcoming breakfast around the campfire, and will take part in wood craft and nature art as well as woodland walks - as well as helping to make their lunch over the fire with expert supervision, learning about healthy choices.
About your mentor
Green Light Trust
Children & young people's woodland activities
Green Light Trust is an environmental education charity which runs programmes for children & young people in beautiful woodlands in Suffolk & Norfolk. It provides holiday activities for children & young people during school holidays based in the woods, where participants learn about nature, take part in outdoor activities, have a go at wood crafting and prepare healthy and nutritious food in the outdoors. The Green Light Trust team are experts in teaching, forestry & bushcraft - and the sessions are carefully planned so that children will benefit from the restorative power of nature, learn new skills, and connect with peers and their natural surroundings. Throughout the year, GLT also provides wellbeing and educational programmes to help children and young people to refocus, rebuild their lives and thrive. They offer vital support to children and young people who need a ‘natural alternative’ to mainstream education, as well as those with mental health issues and other challenges.
Benefits of Nature Engagement and Learning Through Play:
The day is designed to demonstrate how engagement with nature can positively impact children’s learning, mood, and behaviour. Research shows that being outdoors and immersed in nature boosts mental well-being, fosters resilience, and nurtures empathy for others and the environment. This woodland adventure encourages self-confidence, curiosity, and social connections, promoting holistic development through experiential learning.
