A summary
We're keen to celebrate- any excuse for a party!! Here you'll find listibgs for common and less common celebrations. Some are celebrated widely others are often celebrated in Waldorf inspired settings. Even if you aren't familiar with a celebration , you're warmly invited to join and share stories, anacks and play with us at Parkfield forest school. Please make a bookibg for all children attending, adults join FREE of charge and will not need a ticket. MICHAELMAS, celebrated on September 29, honors the Archangel Michael and marks the beginning of autumn in the Christian calendar. Traditionally observed in the UK and Ireland, it is associated with harvest festivals, feasting (often goose), and themes of protection, courage, and the triumph of good over evil. We won't be roasting goose but will be sharing dragon bread and beautiful "blood" (rest assured it's beeyroot!!) soup and sharing brave and daring challenges for the children. HARVEST FESTIVAL Everyone attending is invited to bring with them a seadonal foraged or grown food item for our altar of thanks. We will enjoy games, songs and an opportunity to give thanks to the abundance at this time of year. HALLOWEEN celebrated on October 31, is a holiday rooted in ancient Celtic traditions, where people dress in costumes, carve pumpkins, and engage in activities like trick-or-treating and haunted attractions. Expect there to be magic in the air!! LANTERN FEST/MARTINMAS The Festival of St. Martin, celebrated on November 11, honors St. Martin of Tours, known for his kindness and humility. Traditionally observed in parts of Europe, especially Germany, it features lantern processions, songs, and reenactments of St. Martin sharing his cloak with a beggar. Carry a light home with you in a handmade lantern. ADVENT SPIRAL This special magical event celebrates bringing light into darkness, bravery into difficult times. The start of the 4 week count down to Christmas. Help us build a spiral of greenery and walk to the centre to light your candle to slowly light up the darkening late afternoon. WREATH MAKING Adorn your home with festive greenery thanks to this family friendly event. Kids can join in to make festive stars and decorations whilst grown ups weave and decorate a wreath to take home. CHRISTMAS PARTY Enjoy the seasonal magic with a visit from the forest school fairy bringing a FREE gift for each child attending. Festive crafts and an opportunity to bake your own gingerbread on the campfire!

About your mentor
Little Squirrels Forest school
Home Ed mama, Steiner teacher, FS leader
I love being out in nature and always find myself satisfyingly tired at the end of a day in the woods. I'm keen to encourage everyone to enjoy outdoor fun and like showing parents how to facilitate individual and independent exploration giving them confidence to support their children. I enjoy incorporating my Steiner early years teaching background filled with songs, craft and story inspiration.
