What we'll do
Educraft are happy to offer our unique HAF funded sessions for children eligible for free school meals. PIXEL Jam – It’s your game, let's build it! Take on the roles of artist, writer, designer, and director in creating your own video game! Craft artwork, animations, and backgrounds to shape your game's world exactly how YOU envision it. A hands on unique opportunity for children to work collaboratively or independently on graphics and level building, Pixel Jam creates an exciting event seeing participants create a fully playable retro-styled video game. Go beyond the game – bring them to life with style! Design your own pixel art tiles and animate a cast of characters to create a game that’s truly one-of-a-kind! __________ We also have a number of themed craft and physical activities to offer a fully rounded experience. BEADCRAFT: Create unique pixel sprites using fuse-beads and turn them into beautiful key rings, jewellery or baubles to take home. PAPERCRAFT: Build a paper replica of a classic computer or video game character to take home. RETRO GAMES: Play arcade classics from the early 1980s (such as Pacman, Frogger and Space Invaders), classic SEGA games (including the original version of Sonic) or retro Nintendo games (like the original Super Mario Brothers). BOARD GAMES: Try our selection of carefully chosen board games that ensure that we are able to continue our Pixel theme without the need for excessive periods of screen time. BEAT-SABER: Build up a sweat as you follow choreographed lightsaber sequences in time to music in this twist on the cult VR video game. Each session includes free food and an opportunity for children to increase their healthy eating and nutritional knowledge with a short session exploring different foods common in retro gaming, recipes they could be included in and there health properties. HEALTHY FOOD: Educraft works with local food providers to provide nutritious, locally prepared hot meals as well as healthy snacks and fruit. ***This activity has been funded through the Department for Education’s (DfE) Holiday Activity and Food (HAF) programme and coordinated by East Sussex County Council. Fully funded places are available for young people eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This eligibility criteria has been defined by the DfE. Additionally young people in several other target cohorts can attend funded places, such as those with SEND or Looked After Children (LAC). Please note, eligibility will be confirmed as part of the booking process.***
