Musical Theatre Through the Ages An Inspiring Journey for Young Performers at the Kings Theatre, Southsea Step into the spotlight and travel through time with "Musical Theatre Through the Ages", an exciting and interactive experience designed especially for young people. Hosted at the historic Kings Theatre in Southsea, this immersive programme invites budding performers to explore the rich history of musical theatre — from the golden age of Broadway to contemporary West End hits. Participants will engage in dynamic workshops, learn iconic songs and choreography, and discover the cultural impact of musicals across the decades. Guided by experienced theatre professionals, this journey offers a unique opportunity to develop performance skills, build confidence, and ignite a lifelong love for the stage. Step into the spotlight alongside stars from past productions like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Annie, SpongeBob the Musical and more who have graced the Kings Theatre stage. Over the course of this two-day event, you'll develop your performance skills and showcase what you've learned in a special finale performance for family and friends. Whether you're a seasoned young performer or just beginning your theatrical adventure, this experience promises inspiration, creativity, and a whole lot of fun — all set in one of the South Coast’s most iconic theatres.

A Theatre of National Importance
For over 110 years audiences have enjoyed musicals, plays, comedy, opera, dance, talks and film in the sumptuous surroundings of a beautiful Grade II* listed proscenium arch theatre, designated by the Theatres Trust as a ‘theatre of national architectural importance’. The Kings Theatre has a vibrant community engagement programme to make the arts, particularly visual and performing arts, accessible to all. Our Kings School of Performing Arts, educational workshops, theatre tours, talks, summer schools, work-based learning & apprenticeships, local, national and international partner-projects are an integral part of our work here.
What you will need
Please wear comfortable clothing and footwear, suitable for dancing and movement. A hot lunch will be provided along with fruit, a drink and a snack. Please feel free to bring a water bottle and an additional snack, but I would like to remind you that this will be a NUT FREE ZONE.
