A summary
Each day will be different in terms of the content but the structure will be similar: - Each day children will learn about one of their internal superpowers. Strategies that will help them to build their confidence, their resilience or to recognise and regulate their emotions. - Children will learn how to meditate, through guided meditation. Using the voices of either Oscar, or Annie - two children. - Children will play games, listen to stories and discuss their ideas based on the superpowers of the day. - Children will create crafts based on the superpowers of the day. - Children will also be able to access the 'Croft on the Heath' which is the school's forest school. - Each day will include movement games to encourage children to move their bodies.

MiniMe Mindfulness - Staffordshire and Derbyshire
Positive mindfulness & mindset superpowers.
In today’s fast-paced world of distraction, technology and comparison, it is vitally important that we help children to create and maintain a healthy mind. So many children have been negatively impacted by the global pandemic and have navigated loss of human interaction, home schooling and resulting challenges. Thoughts control our actions, which can determine our success and happiness. What can we do to make sure children are happy, grateful, confident, intentional with their actions, excited about the future and able to understand and communicate feelings and emotions? Positive mindfulness and mindset could be part of the solution. Mindfulness is commonly viewed as a way to fix a physiological discomfort or difficulty such as stress, anxiety or pain. There are many fabulous mindfulness programmes that serve in this area, such as, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Our approach is different. We teach positive mindfulness techniques, not focussing on ‘fixing’ children but helping every child flourish. We invite all children to onboard positive mindfulness and mindset ‘superpowers’ to feel more love, happiness, resilience, internal calm, focus and confidence.

As a Primary School Teacher with over 20 years experience, I have a keen interest in understanding children’s mental health and wellbeing. I am delighted to have the opportunity to be a Mindset Mentor with MiniMe Mindfulness Staffordshire & Derbyshire and am looking forward to making a positive difference in the lives of young people: equipping them with the skills to look after their mental health whilst having fun!

Yes it is and so are snacks. Please advise us of any dietary or cultural diet requirements.
Learning aims
Aim 1
To teach children a different strategy each day to support their mental wellbeing.
Aim 2
To support children to build friendships and build their confidence in a new environment.
Aim 3
To encourage children to move their bodies and explore the environment.
What should my child wear?
As we will be accessing the forest school and completing craft activities, please make sure that your child brings appropriate footwear. Please make sure they bring clothing appropriate for the weather - this might mean winter coats or sunhats! Please make sure that they are wearing clothes you're happy for them to get dirty. A MiniMe Mindfulness t-shirt will be provided on their first day attending a camp.
