What we'll do
This Summer our programme will be structured around the environment and our City, with activities developed to boost a sense of self and understanding of others, our community and promote good mental health. Our themed activities will be art & crafts, indoor & outdoor team games, storytelling, poetry, growing activities in our community garden, baking & cooking, sports, yoga, mindfulness, stories and our library, sessions with enrichment providers and and free play. We will be having families sessions too including a Summer BBQ in our community garden where families will be invited to join in with cooking from their own family & cultural favourites. Our day out this year will include visits to several places the children haven't been before, developing their awareness their own varied histories and Liverpool - many of the places are ones that the children have chosen themselves. . The children will also menu plan and get hands on with cooking meals each week, and will harvest food grown in our allotment & discuss what they can make with what's in season. The children use the nutrition wheel to ensure that all the food groups are included in the right proportions and identify healthy options. All of our meals are cooked in-house fresh every day by a member of staff / sessional worker who hold a current food safety certificate. Our kitchen has a 5* rating from LCC.
