HAF Winter Gymnastics Camps block mentored by Viva Gymnastics Club

A summary

Our winter gymnastics camps let your gymnasts burn off some holiday energy! They'll enjoy a mix of structured gymnastics, active games and free time on the equipment. Hot snacks will be provided to keep gymnasts full and toasty, and a healthy lunch or dinner with both hot and cold options is included. Also expect magical visits from Candy the Unicorn and Tinsel the T-Rex who will hand out special sweets and treats! Suitable for children aged 5-15 years who are happy to be dropped off and left for the duration of the camp.

Viva Gymnastics Club

Making Gymnastics Accessible for Every Child

Viva Gymnastics Club was set up in 2018 to provide gymnastics sessions to children in the Portsmouth area, including those with a variety of disabilities and additional needs who have often found themselves excluded from the sport of gymnastics In 2020, our Club faced the many challenges of the COVID pandemic and continued to provide gymnastics activities to children via Zoom and, when allowed, via outdoor sessions near Southsea Common. The Club and its members supported each other through this difficult time. Our Club is now a registered charity and has the objective of ensuring that disabilities and additional needs are not a barrier to participation in gymnastics. In addition to its growing SEND programme, the Club provides fun and advanced gymnastics sessions for children of all ages and abilities. Our coaches, support staff and volunteers are passionate, kind, supportive and experienced people with a wealth of experience in gymnastics and in special educational teaching. Kindness is at our core.

Supporting families over the school holidays

In November 2020 the government announced the significant expansion of its Holiday Activities and Food programme. Portsmouth City Council registered to participate and were delighted to be allocated funding by the Department for Education (DfE). The programme is designed to provide healthy food and enriching activities during the Easter, Summer and Winter holidays to children who receive benefits-related free school meals.

SEND Needs

Our gym is inclusive and we welcome all, however we will not be able to offer 1-2-1 support during these camps and parents are not able to stay on-site. Children must be able to understand and follow instructions, must be able to toilet independently and must be happy to be dropped off and left. It is important that you consider if this session is appropriate and manageable for your child.

Learning aim

Aim 1

Attendees will be able to learn basic gymnastics skills as well as socialisation skills, communication, teamwork, group cohesion and an understanding of spatial awareness.

Free bookings do not require refunds but as places are limited, please cancel if you cannot attend so that your place can be offered to someone else.

My experience is an educational activity and the 14-day cooling-off period under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 therefore applies. After the 14 day period my standard policy will apply.
