Fungi, Fire and Family Fun!

Lymley Wood

A summary
Join fungi expert Lily for a fun and fascinating woodland fungi hunt and habitat trail, learning how to spot and identify mushrooms as we explore the woods together. We’ll discover seasonal fungi, try simple spore printing, and mushroom-inspired nature crafts, forage natural treasures to create little autumn animals to take home. There’ll be plenty of time for free play on the adventure playground, rope swings, rope bridges, and mud kitchen too. Then we’ll gather round the fire for toasted marshmallows, hot chocolate for the children and birch polypore tea for the grown-ups, finishing with a seasonal story or puppet show.
If the grown-ups are inspired, there’s an opportunity to join Lily’s adult fungi and foraging workshop later in the month.

Meet lilly
We’re so excited to welcome Lily to Lymley Wood for a very special fungi family day 🍄
Lily is an Italian-British forager, artist and mycology enthusiast from Crowborough, with a real passion for the fascinating world of fungi and the hidden relationships that connect our woodlands.
Lily has a diploma in Foraging and Mycology and has a particular interest in mycorrhizal fungi — the remarkable underground relationships between fungi, plants and their environment. Inspired by nature and woodlands since childhood, she brings together her love of foraging, art and mycology with a desire to help people reconnect with the natural world.
Through her work, Lily hopes to spark curiosity, deepen our appreciation of biodiversity and encourage us to notice the often-overlooked beauty beneath our feet. 🌿🍄
