What we'll do
We provide a huge range of activities, allowing young people freedom and choice. With a teen-centred approach, the day will be flexible and adaptable; whilst encouraging participants to try new things; become involved, work as teams and learn from everyone present. Activities will include: • Greenwood projects (whittle to make spoons, butter knives and other wooden implements), with guidance and small groups • Conservation projects - using rakes, scythes and saws to make habitat piles (for grass snakes), clear footpaths for access and create a Hibernaculum for reptiles (i.e. slow worms and grass snakes) • Construction projects - shelter building or using hammers, nails, drill and draw knife to make items to take home • Wildlife observation - quiet time in hammocks, by the river edge, in a tree; observing insects, birds, mammals and plants in the landscape. River dipping with nets, using binoculars, sweep nets and magnifying equipment to explore the diversity of the site • Art & craft projects - natural and art materials to make dream catchers, journey sticks, decorated walking poles and more We encourage the enjoyment of being together, outside. Our site is a beautiful, private, south facing spot; with a mix of woodland and meadow habitats; next to the River Waveney. It inspires young people to become fully immersed and relaxed. They have space to rest, meet and socialise with their peers, explore the beauty of the site, learn skills and participate in conservation tasks for wildlife benefits.
