A summary
Before we had fossils fully understood, early artists imagined dinosaurs based on limited evidence, leading to dramatic, sometimes inaccurate depictions. Over time, as new discoveries were made, scientific illustration evolved, shaping the way we see dinosaurs today. In this workshop, children will: Explore how dinosaur drawings have changed over time—from early 19th-century depictions to modern reconstructions. Learn how paleontologists and artists collaborate to create lifelike images of dinosaurs based on fossil evidence. Draw their own dinosaurs using real fossil references and scientific insights. Experiment with colour and texture, considering how dinosaurs may have looked in their prehistoric environments.
