A summary
PLEASE MAKE SURE TO BOOK THE RIGHT SESSIONS, THERE ARE BLOCKS FOR DIFFERENT AGE GROUPS IN BOTH WOLVERTON AND BLETCHLEY. We’re excited to offer a creative and inclusive Short Breaks programme for children and young people with an EHCP in Milton Keynes, combining hands-on arts and crafts with the excitement of filmmaking. Over a series of supportive, structured sessions, participants will explore the full creative journey of filmmaking—focusing especially on the design and making of props, costumes, puppets and set elements. Children will use a variety of materials and techniques to bring their stories to life, from superhero capes and fantasy props to colourful backdrops and imaginative accessories. These practical, crafty activities support sensory exploration, fine motor skills, and self-expression in a fun, low-pressure setting. Alongside crafting, children will take part in filming their creations, using professional equipment such as a Canon R50 camera, gimbal, green screen, and clapperboard. Sessions will include opportunities for scripting, directing, and acting—allowing every child to take part in a way that suits their interests and strengths. Our approach is child-centred and inclusive, with calm, nurturing environments and the flexibility for children to take breaks or engage in quieter, sensory-friendly tasks as needed. Each session starts with gentle, drama-based warmups to build confidence and social connection. We will also provide healthy snacks to support wellbeing and promote a balanced lifestyle. Our experienced team has successfully delivered a range of creative programmes through HAF, in schools, Bletchley Clubs and as part of previous Short Breaks. This project will empower children to collaborate, create, and celebrate their unique ideas—offering a joyful, confidence-building experience that places art, imagination, and inclusion at its heart. We will have 3:10 staff to learner ratio, meaning we are able to support 1:1 needs where possible.
